Streamlined R&D systems
There are different arrangements in different parts of the UK for streamlined R&D approval.
England
In England, the NIHR Coordinated System for gaining NHS Permission (CSP) is available for studies that are potentially eligible for inclusion on the NIHR portfolio. R&D approval in this system is coordinated through the Comprehensive Local Research Networks (CLRNs). For further details see the NIHR CRNCC website. All queries should be directed to the NIHR CSP Helpdesk: crncc.csp@nihr.ac.uk, tel. 0113 343 2314.
Scotland
Northern Ireland
A memorandum of understanding is being established across Trusts in Northern Ireland so that some aspects of the R&D review are conducted only once. All queries should be directed to the relevant R&D office.
Wales
A central Primary Care R&D Coordinating Office has been established. All R&D applications relating to primary care should be sent to the coordinating office. For further details see www.primarycarermg.wales.nhs.uk. All queries to AllWales.PrimaryRD@powyslhb.wales.nhs.uk, tel. 01874 712 450.
A streamlined system for secondary care in Wales is being established. In the meantime all applications and queries should be directed to the relevant R&D office.
